Ink and Iron 2010 – Make your reservations early

Ink and Iron is THE premier tattoo/psychobilly fest, hosted on the Queen Mary in Long Beach California. If you are even thinking of going, I recommend you reserve your room, because this sucker books up early. The Queen Mary is supposed to be haunted, and I can tell you it can be a bit spooky in the wee hours when there is no one around. And very difficult to find your way out. At least when you are hungover.

2010 dates are June 11-13.

Slash and Burn. Please.

Friday_the_13th_movie_poster

The Friday the 13th "remake."

Remaking old horror films that don't need to be remade + gratuitous nudity even for this genre + bimbos with the worst boob jobs ever + fake tanned, boob-jobbed, 2 dimensional douchebag characters + idiotic dialogue = SUCK.

Epic fucking FAIL.

This film now holds the title of worst line ever – "You have great nipple placement." I'm guessing that is supposed to be funny. Hint: it's just stupid.

Grade: D-, credit for nice set styling, the only redeeming value to this travesty on celluloid.

Konniption Fit to release full length CD January 30

Konniptionfit00202a

The
long awaited and much anticipated official CD release of Detroit’s own
Konniption Fit, has been scheduled for January 30, 2010 with a
fun-packed line-up at TNT’s. The night will include not only great
music from a variety of bands, but also a number of exciting giveaway
and raffle items from Coffin Case, one of Konniption Fit’s endorsement
companies.

Konniption Fit’s “Ballistic”, produced by
Andy Patalan at The Loft studios in Saline Michigan, features 12 songs
of fun, upbeat Pop Punk sharpened to a razors edge with Modern Rock.
Stylistically, the songs on “Ballistic” run the gamut of styles and
influences, from the sounds of a riveting racehorse riot to moments of
harmonic texture and melodicism, all coming together as a whole which
can only be described as uniquely Konniption Fit. Catchy, lush
harmonies and melodies are contrasted with the roar of Marshall-driven
guitars, sledgehammer drums and tight, pulsing bass lines, causing the
listener to want to sing along and slam dance all at the same time.

Konniption
Fit is a punk/pop/rock band with a heavier edge, hailing from Detroit,
MI. Their sound covers many sonic territories, from crunchy ear candy
to rebellious moments of anarchy, yet all mixes cohesively into one
band. Their goal? To write music with a raw, rebellious attitude, play
music with conviction, and devastate the stage with an onslaught of
catchy melodies, high energy performances, and an unforgettable show.
Konniption Fit is brimming with hook-laden, pop punk bliss contrasted
with guitar-driven modern rock, creating a fresh sound with
mass-crossover appeal. A bright light emerging from Motor City, this is
a band that isn’t afraid to step outside the darker Detroit music “box”
and tap into diverse influences.

While working hard to
promote their live show, Konniption Fit has had the opportunity to play
some of Detroit’s largest and best venues, including the Royal Oak
Music Theater, St Andrews Hall, The Crofoot and The Emerald Theater.
Through hard work, they’ve garnered stage time with national recording
acts such as Days of the New, Taproot, Sponge, Ashes of Soma, WWE Diva
Christy Hemme, The Luchagors (featuring Lita from WWE), The Muggs
(“Greatest American Band” finalists), Frequency 54 and Crud to name a
few. Recently, the band just finished up their second Midwest tour,
hitting cities such as Chicago, Fort Wayne, Pittsburgh, Toledo,
Cincinnati and more.

Behind the scenes with Killswitch Engage in South America

I think this is pretty cool, and I would love to see music coverage go back to its roots with more behind the scenes, documentary type coverage rather than the glossy posed stills that fill all the magazines these days.

I’ve shot Killswitch Engage live a couple of times, and like these guys. They seem like a fun, down to earth bunch of guys, and Howard Jones even tried to get me to give him my camera to take a shot of the crowd when I shot them in Kalamazoo opening for Disturbed.

Nice as he seems to be, no one touches my camera but me, baby.

Anyway, here’s the first clip of footage courtesy of Roadrunner Records. Killswitch Engage
will be playing the Royal Oak Music Theatre Feb 20 with The Devil Wears Prada.
I will be shooting some TDWP promos that night and likely KsE as well, so I’m pretty damn excited.

From the Roadrunner website:

This past October, Killswitch Engage
embarked on their first ever tour of South America. With stops in
Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile and Colombia, the Massachusetts
natives played in front of ravenous crowds eager to catch the rare
glimpse of KsE live in their respective countries.

The landmark trek was documented by the band, and starting today
we will be releasing one behind-the-scenes clip every Monday over the
course of the next six weeks.

While the videos range from tour bus shenanigans to backstage
experiences, the band can be seen interacting with fans and engaging in
some typical, hilarious Killswitch fare. The first offering (below) sees the band arriving on Brazilian soil and being greeted by their mass of eager fans.

Watch as Killswitch conquer new territory and don’t miss the band on tour starting February 4th as they embark on a US headlining run with The Devil Wears Prada.
